GUGUS!

Rebecca Weingartner (CH)

Two circus artists meet on stage and whisk the audience away into a world full of acrobatics, dance, onomatopoeia, music, noise and nonsense. They float through the air, transform themselves into strange figures and play with gravity, while everyday life takes a short break.

In Swiss German, “Gugus” means both “hello” and “nonsense” – and that’s exactly what it’s all about: purposeless moments that are simply fun. Inspired by the Dada* movement, GUGUS! invites you to let go of the pressure to perform and self-optimization and rediscover the joy of the absurd.

With GUGUS! , Rebecca Weingartner creates an open space for young and adult audiences – a humorous play about freedom, play and losing oneself together – in order to find oneself and each other.

The GUGUS! warm-up takes place before the show: a moving introduction for all ages to join in!

Dada*: The radical Dada art movement was founded in Zurich over a hundred years ago as a reaction to the atrocities of the First World War. The movement is generally regarded as anti-bourgeois, anarchic and Dada art as nonsensical, crazy and wild.

Where the funk is my red nose!?

Society demands solutions for everything – fast, clever, perfect. Where the funk is my red nose!? on the other hand, refuses to find solutions and celebrates chaos.

In the ring, a popcorn vendor waits for the show to begin. But the performance – it seems – simply won’t start, and everything around him begins to fall apart. Filled with humor, irritation, and playfulness, entirely new ways of finding joy in disorder begin to unfold.

The play takes us on a journey through the madness of everyday life – an explosion of disorder, poetry and popcorn.

Where the funk is my red Nose!? is a co-production of Zirkusquartier Zürich and celebrates its premiere on June 05 Pre Premiere. .

schwimmen

Zirkus Neuland (CH)

Swimming, stumbling, hoping: It’s about the moments when we are thrown in at the deep end and lose our footing – about struggling with the currents of life. It is about crises such as break-ups, deaths, the end of school or being made redundant, all events for which hardly anything prepares us. They are moments in which certainties break away and habits have to be abandoned, shock moments that leave their mark and change us – for better or for worse. Talking about it requires courage, because we show ourselves to be vulnerable.

Zirkus Neuland uses the stage to talk about difficult personal experiences and what helped them to get their feet back on solid ground. What survival strategies did they develop? Who or what came to their aid? What swimming styles did they find?

It is not about self-pityingly lamenting problems, but about showing how to swim. Deep questions and open possibilities arise between sinking and salvation. An empowering play that allows us to regain our footing.

La Grinta – Accademia Dimitri

The merciless hunt for success

Accademia Teatro Dimitri (CH)

A choral, radically contemporary fresco about courage in disguise. We live in a society driven by the compulsion to perform and the cult of instant success. But what remains of us when the applause falls silent?

La Grinta delves deeply into the concept of resilience. With a visual language that lets the real and the surreal flow into one another, the piece resists simple answers and confronts us with the tensions and contradictions of our time. Must true strength always be loud?

Or is Grinta rather the quiet courage to keep going, to endure, to persist—even when the light fades and no one is watching?

La Grinta is the 2026 graduation piece of the Accademia Teatro Dimitri.

VaRRRiété – Accademia Dimitri

An adventure on the high seas

Accademia Teatro Dimitri (CH)

The sails are set and ready for a thrilling spectacle full of music, dance, clowning, and acrobatics. Fearless pirates storm the deck, conquer the space, and unleash laughter, energy, and passion. They are roguish and mysterious, unpredictable and delightfully clumsy—constantly balancing between courage, recklessness, and playful chaos.

An experience that will captivate and surprise. Driven by the wind, seduced by the sea, the crew follows the rhythm of the waves and the urge for freedom, adventure and community. A celebration full of movement, humor and poetry.
